
Men's Tennis Notches Four Wins to Open Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. - Members of the Rice Owls men's tennis team collected four victories, three singles and one doubles, on the first day of the Princeton Farnsworth Invitational on Friday, November 1 in Princeton, New Jersey.
The tandem of Joshua Mandelbaum and Eduardo Morais were the only two to take victories in the doubles portion of the invitational, taking down the duo of Nedim Suko and Rohan Belday by a score of 8-6. Santiago and Petro Kuzemnok fell to the duo of Togan Tokac and Luke Casper from Texas A&M, 8-5, followed by Yair Sarouk and Arthus de la Bassetiere falling to another duo from TAMU in Matthis Ross and Tiago Pires, 8-3. To round out the doubles portion of day one, Emir Sendogan and Gabriel Porras fell to Grant Lothringer and Ethan Silva from TAMU, 8-3.
In singles action, Morais was the first Owl to take a victory, taking down Texas A&M's Ross 6-3, 4-6, 6-3. Sarouk followed that up with a victory over another Aggie, Lothringer, in three sets with a 5-7, 6-2, 7-5 victory. Porras rounded out the Owls singles victories with a third win over the Aggies in Silva with a 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (5) victory. De la Bassetiere fell to Tokac of A&M, 7-5, 7-6, followed by Sendogan falling to Giulio Perego from A&M, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4. Kuzmenok fell to Soham Purohit from Washington, 5-7, 6-3, 6-1, and Madelbaum also fell to Belday of the Huskies, 6-3, 6-4. Navarro was the final Owl to fall with a 6-3, 6-3 loss to Ritesh Patil from A&M.
