
Gamble Breaks School Record in Season Opener

HOUSTON – The Rice women's track and field team opened the 2024 indoor season with a bang, capturing three event titles and one school record at the Leonard Hilton Memorial Invitational at the University of Houston.
Kennedy Gamble broke a 27-year-old school record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.36, just narrowly breaking the previous record of 7.38 set by TaNisha Mills in 1997. Taigen Hunter-Galvan continued the strong track performance for Rice by capturing the Mile with a time of 4:49.74.
In the field events, Eliza Kraule won the long jump with a distance of 6.22m. Josie Taylor won the high jump with a height of 1.80m, while sister Alice Taylor finished fourth in her Rice debut with a height of 1.70m.
