McCaffrey Named Campbell Trophy Semifinalist

Finalists announced on October 25
Wide receiver Luke McCaffrey is one of 201 semifinalists for the 2023 William V. Campbell Trophy® who were announced on Wednesday by The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF).
Celebrating its 34th year as college football's premier scholar-athlete award, the Campbell Trophy® recognizes an individual as the absolute best football scholar-athlete in the nation for his combined academic success, football performance, and exemplary leadership.
McCaffrey is tied for the AAC lead with four touchdown receptions and is second with 370 yards and a 92.5 yards-per-game average in his second season as a receiver. In his most recent game, he caught nine passes for 199 yards, the second-most in school history and he topped 1,000 career receiving yards in 15 games, the second-fewest games by an Owl. He was named the Owls' MVP last season after leading the team with 58 receptions and 903 all-purpose yards and finishing second in receiving yards (732) and touchdowns (6).
He graduated from Rice in December of 2022 with a 3.52 GPA while majoring in Sport Management and has posted a 3.67 GPA in the Jones School MBA program at Rice. He earned CoSIDA Academic All-District® 7 honors in 2022 and was an Academic All-Big Ten selection while at Nebraska in 2020.
The NFF will announce 12-14 finalists on Oct. 25, and each of them will receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship as a member of the 2023 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Class Presented by Fidelity Investments. The finalists will travel to ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas for the 65th NFF Annual Awards Dinner Presented by Las Vegas on Dec. 5, where their accomplishments will be highlighted in front of one of the most powerful audiences in all of sports.
Live during the event, one member of the class will be declared the winner of the 34th Campbell Trophy® and have his postgraduate scholarship increased to $25,000.
