AAC Announces 2023-24 WBB Schedule

IRVING – The American Athletic Conference has released the conference schedule for the upcoming 2023-24 women's basketball schedule, which features an 18-game conference slate with nine home and nine road games.
The 2023-24 season marks the third season at Rice for head coach Lindsay Edmonds and also marks the first season for Rice in The American (AAC).
The AAC debut for Rice will come on Jan. 3, 2024, when the Owls welcome Wichita State to Tudor Fieldhouse. Rice will then head on the road for the first away conference matchup of the season against SMU on Jan. 7.
The Owls will return home to face a familiar foe Charlotte (Jan. 11) and will then host South Florida (Jan. 14). Rice will then be on the road for three at East Carolina (Jan. 17), Tulane (Jan. 20) and Tulsa (Jan. 24).
Rice will be back at home to face Memphis (Jan. 27) and SMU (Jan. 31) before heading back on the road to the Sunshine State to face Florida Atlantic (Feb. 3) and South Florida (Feb. 7). The Owls will return to Tudor Fieldhouse to face Tulsa (Feb. 10) and East Carolina (Feb. 14).
The Owls will have three of their last five games on the road starting at UAB (Feb. 17) before heading to Memphis (Feb. 20). Rice will be back at home for Temple (Feb. 25) and North Texas (March 3) before ending the season at UTSA (March 5).
The 2024 American Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Championship will be held at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas on March 9-13.
Rice's non-conference schedule and season ticket information has already been released.
Rice will host Angelo State on Nov. 1, for an exhibition before opening the season against Houston Christian at Tudor Fieldhouse on Nov. 6. The rest of the non-conference slate features: at Abilene Christian (Nov. 9), at TCU (Nov. 12), Georgia Tech (Nov. 16), Saint Mary's (Nov. 19), at SFA (Nov. 25), Texas Southern (Nov. 29), at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Dec. 2), Gonzaga (Dec. 9), Prairie View A&M (Dec. 16) and at Houston (Dec. 20).

Last season, in just Edmonds' second season, the Owls saw the best start in program history (9-0) which featured back-to-back-to-back wins at Texas A&M, vs. TCU and vs. Houston (2OT). The Owls (23-9) went on to earn a bid to the WNIT, where they defeated BYU on the road in the opening round before falling to Oregon in the second round.
Rice returns multiple key players from last season including 2023 C-USA Second Team selection Malia Fisher while Destiny Jackson also returns for a fifth season with the Owls.
