Final game of Silver Glove Series set for Wednesday at 6:30
Houston: Incarnate Word struck for four early runs to take a lead it never relinquished and went on to down Rice 10-1 at Reckling Park on Tuesday.
The Details: After a scoreless opening inning, the Cardinals plated four in the second on a grand slam. Jack Ben-Shoshan came on in relief and held UIW in check, tossing 3.1 scoreless innings, The sophomore allowed just one hit and struck out a pair before turning things over to Krishna Raj who chipped in two scoreless frames of his own while fanning three. The Owls broke through on the scoreboard in the fifth when Ben Royo brought home Max Johnson on a sacrifice fly. The Owl put the leadoff hitter on base in five of the first six innings, but Johnson was the only one to come around to score. UIW broke the game open with a pair in the eighth and four in the ninth to improve to 25-21.

- Rice fell to 5-8 in midweek games.
- Ben-Shoshan has not allowed a run in eight of his last nine appearances and has posted a 1.59 ERA over that span (2 ER in 11. 1 IP).
- Jack Redel's single in the fourth inning allowed him to extend his career-best hitting streak to 13 games. The streak is the longest by an Owl since Ford Proctor had a 14-game streak from 4/8 to 5/5 in 2018. now hitting .434 over his streak (23x53).
- Max Johnson made his first start in the outfield and reached base in three of five plate appearances, walking twice along with a single.
