HOUSTON – The Rice women's track and field team will have 10 athletes representing the Owls at this week's NCAA West Preliminaries in Sacramento, Calif.
The Owls are coming off one of the best showings in program history at the 2023 Conference USA Outdoor Championships, where the Owls were crowned conference championships for the first time since 2016. Rice finished with 187 points, the most in program history and third most in C-USA history, while also scoring in each of the 21 events.
Rice will have several event champions from the C-USA Championships compete this week including Tara Simpson-Sullivan (hammer throw) and Alyssa Balandran (1500m champion, competing in 800m). Eliza Kraule (heptathlon champion) will also be competing in the high jump.
