First sport-specfic selections for tennis
Wes Barnett has been named to the first-ever College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Men's Tennis Team.
This marks the first year that CSC (previously CoSIDA) has announced a sport-specific category for tennis student-athletes who were previously included in the "At-Large" designation. The program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes men's tennis honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
Barnett completed his career with the Owls this spring and compiled a 3.522 GPA while majoring in Economics and he is now on the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Voting by CSC members began on May 9 and runs through May 16.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
