2023 C-USA Men's Tennis Championship
The Rice men's tennis team opens play at the 2023 Conference USA Men's Tennis Championship by hosting UAB in one of two opening matches at noon on Friday at the George R. Brown Tennis Center.
Rice earned the No. 4 seed in the championship based on their ITA team ranking. It's the highest seed for the Owls since they were the top seed and defending champions in 2017 and it is the first time they have been seeded fourth. In 16 previous C-USA Championships, the Owls have had the top seed four times, the second seed five times, the third seed once, and twice each as the fifth, sixth, and seventh seed.
This will mark the fourth and final time Rice has hosted the C-USA Men's Tennis Championship. Rice played host to the event at Jake Hess Tennis Stadium in 2007 and again in 2010 when the Owls won their first C-USA title. The George R. Brown Tennis Center hosted the event in 2016, with Rice capturing the title, and most recently in 2018.
The winners from Friday's first-round matches will advance to take on the top two seeds (Middle Tennessee and UTSA) which earned first-round byes. The C-USA Championship will be decided at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
