Houston: McNeese rallied for three runs in the top of the ninth to take a 7-6 win over Rice at Reckling Park on Wednesday.
The Details: After falling behind 3-0 in the second inning, Rice answered with a run in the third when Aaron Smigelski drove in Jacob Devenny with a double off the base of the wall in right. The Owls scored three times in the fifth after two were out. Guy Garibay singled home Smigelski and then Connor Walsh followed with a single to drive in Drew Holderbach and Garibay. McNeese tied it with a run in the sixth, but the Owls answered with two in the bottom of the sixth. Ben Royo led off the inning with his eighth home run. Manny Garza followed with a double and one out later came home on a sac fly by Smigelski.

- The loss snapped a six-game winning streak for Rice against McNeese. The Cowboys' last win in the series came on 2/7/99 at Cameron Field (12-4).
- Tyler Hamilton worked two scoreless innings and now has a 3.38 ERA in six appearances at Reckling Park.
- Royo's eight home runs match Smigelski's total from last year for the most homers by a Rice freshman since Michael Ratterree hit 10 in 2010.
