Grear Third Owl to Earn C-USA Honor This Spring

C-USA Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week, presented by Blenders Eyewear
Junior Trinity Grear has been named Conference USA's Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week, thanks to the first two wins of his career at the first line, one against a ranked opponent. The weekly awards are presented by Blenders Eyewear.
The junior from Adelphi, Maryland shook off a first-set loss to defeat No. 77 Noah Berry of Cal Poly, 6-7, 6-4, 6-2, and snap a 3-3 tie against the Mustangs. It was his first win at the first line and also his first career win over a ranked opponent. He followed that up with a victory in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1 to help Rice take down William & Mary 4-3, extending the Owls' winning streak to eight matches.
He is the third member of the team to be honored by the conference this year. Emir Sendogan was recognized his clinching victory at Denver and Santiago Navarro after efforts vs. New Mexico
Grear and the Owls, who moved up to No. 66 in the ITA computer rankings, will travel to College Station on Saturday to face #25 Texas A&M. First serves are set for 6 p.m.
