HOUSTON — For the second straight season, the Rice men's basketball team has accepted a bid to play in the College Basketball Invitational.
The 2023 tournament will take place March 18-22 at the Daytona Beach Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Fla.
"We are excited to be heading back to Daytona Beach and participate in the CBI in back-to-back years, said head coach Scott Pera. "We had a good, but too short, experience last year. For our program to get to back-to-back postseasons is another barrier we have broken down as we continue to grow Rice Basketball and head into the American Athletic Conference next year."
The 15th edition of the CBI will feature 16 teams in a single-elimination bracket. The event was previously held on on-campus sites until 2021 due to COVID-19.
This will be Rice's third appearance in the CBI. The Owls also participated in the 2017 and 2022 CBI, advancing to the quarterfinals in 2017.
FloHoops will stream the first and quarterfinal rounds. The semifinals and championship will be televised by ESPN2.
Rice enters the CBI with an 18-15 record after reaching the Conference USA quarterfinals for the third straight year.
Tickets for the tournament can be accessed here and may also be purchased at the Ocean Center box office on CBI game days. The bracket will announced tomorrow night.
