
Two Women’s Basketball Seniors Named CSC Academic All-District

HOUSTON – Rice women's basketball seniors India Bellamy and Katelyn Crosthwait have been named Academic All-District by the College Sports Communications, the organization announced Tuesday afternoon (2/21/23).
Bellamy is a four-time C-USA Academic Honor Roll and two-time C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll honoree and currently holds a 3.53 GPA, majoring in Sports Medicine & Exercise Physiology. She also is a two-time Rice University Honor Athlete and a two-time Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Qualifier. Bellamy currently sits fourth on the team, averaging 10 points per game and is coming off a career-high 27-point performance on a near perfect 11-of-12 shooting in Rice's 82-64 win at Western Kentucky. Bellamy has reached double-digit points in 10 games and surpassed 20+ points in two of Rice's last three games (FIU and at WKU). She also leads the team in field goal percentage at 60.5% and leads the team with 16 blocks.
Crosthwait is a three-time C-USA Academic Honor Roll and two-time C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll honoree and holds a 3.68 GPA, majoring in Sports Medicine & Exercise Physiology. She is also Rice University Scholar Athlete and Rice University Honor Athlete and a C-USA Spirit of Service Award winner. This season, Crosthwait averages 8.2 points per game and set a career-high with 23 points in Rice's 78-76 win over UTSA. In that game, Crosthwait also tied the school record for three pointers in a game with seven while shooting 37.4% from beyond the arc this season. In total, she has reached double-digit points in 11 games and has grabbed 101 rebounds thus far.
