Los Angeles-Kabeer Kapasi earned a spot in the doubles main draw with a straight-set win as Rice opened play at the 66th SoCal Intercollegiate Championships at the David X. Marks Tennis Stadium on Thursday.

Details- Kapasi raced to a 6-3, 6-2 win to move on to Friday's opening round of the main draw where he will join teammates Arthus de la Bassetiere and Yasha Zemel. Final draws will be determined later on Thursday night after the completion of the remaining qualifying matches and play begins at 1 pm (central). All three will join with Trinity Grear in the opening round of double play, which kicks off the day at noon.
