
Dowd Earns C-USA Spirit of Service Award

DALLAS, TX – Rice cross country athlete Travis Dowd was named Rice's recipient of the C-USA Spirit of Service Award for fall 2022, the league office announced this afternoon.
C-USA's Spirit of Service Award is given to one student athlete from all 11 member schools and is presented three times throughout the year. The honor recognizes student athletes with significant community service endeavors, good academic standing, and participation in their sport.
This season, Dowd was named to the 2022 All-Conference team while placing 21st at the C-USA Championships. Dowd also saw a 42nd place finish at the NCAA DI South Region Championships while also finishing first at the 46th Rice Invitational. Dowd also took home a fourth-place finish at the Lake Charles Toyota McNeese Cowboy Stampede and a 11th place finish at the Texas A&M Invitational.
Dowd, a junior bioengineering major, currently holds a 3.92 GPA and was named to the 2021 and 2022 C-USA All-Academic teams and was also a 2022 Academic All-American.
Dowd also serves as a Rice Athletics Team Impact Ambassador and helps advance the mission of Team Impact at Rice's campus and helps match kids with the various teams. Dowd participated in the SAAC DEI Social Media Campaign and helped lead the ROCU/Team Impact Texas Children's Hospital Toy Drive.
