Forbes Wins 10,000m at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA - Rice sophomore distance runner Grace Forbes made her homecoming appearance count, winning the 10,000m Thursday evening at the prestigious Penn Relays.
Forbes, a native of Wallingford, Pa. (Strath Haven HS), finished in a time of 32:59.15 to defeat the next closest competitor by nearly 24 seconds. Forbes' time currently ranks third in the NCAA this season.
Forbes pulled away late in the race and ran her final 5000m in 15:54.7, besting everyone in the 20-runner field. In addition to Forbes, senior Lourdes Vivas de Lorenzi finished 11th in the race with a time of 34:49.32, a personal best mark.
Forbes, along with her two sisters Maddie and Maggie, along with Taigen Hunter-Galvan, will compete in the 4x800 relay on Saturday.
