Simpson-Sullivan Bests Own Hammer Throw School Record

HOUSTON - Tara Simpson-Sullivan broker her own hammer throw school record to highlight the Owls performance at Friday's Tom Tellez Invitational, hosted by the University of Houston.
Simpson-Sullivan, who was the top collegiate finisher, unleashed a throw of 69.15m on her first attempt to move into 10th in the NCAA this season and sixth in the West region.
Other Owls who shined on Friday included freshman high jumper Josie Taylor, who won the event with a clearance of 1.67m and Julie Perez earning a victory in the discus.
The Owls will now turn their eyes on the Conferene USA Championships, which take place next week at UTSA.
