Chugh Ties for Fifth at Bayou City Collegiate Classic

Montgomery, Texas — Raghav Chugh continued his strong freshman campaign, firing an even par 72 to tie for fifth-place at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic.
Chugh finished one-over par for the tournament. The 72 was his team-leading 14th round of par or better this year. He becomes the first player with back-to-back top five finishes since Jake Benson in 2018-19 and the first with three straight top-10's since Benson in 2019-20. In addition, his three top-five finishes this year and six top tens are the most since Mitchell Meissner in 2017-18.
Senior Jack Diamond had his best tournament finish of the season, tying for 22nd-place at seven-over par after carding a 77. Senior Jake Benson posted a final round 73 to move up into a 26th-place tie at eight-over par.
Senior Harrison Hineline bounced back with a 74 finish tied for 64th-place at 19-over par and junior Forrest Park closed with an 85 finish 26-over, tied for 81st-place.
Playing as an individuals, Thomas Bockholt III tied for 45th-place at 13-over par after carding a 79.
Redshirt freshman Blake Benson and senior Austin Escamilla tied for 90th-place at 32-over. Escamilla carded and 82 while Benson closed with an 85.
The Rice golf team took home sixth-place, closing with 296 to finish 31-over par, two strokes behind fifth-place Denver.
Florida Atlantic won the team competition at 12-over par, five strokes in front of second-place Sam Houston. FAU's Alex Maguire defeated New Mexico State's Garrison Smith on the second hole of a playoff to earn medalist honors.
