Rice and San Jose State to meet in 2030 & 2031

Schools met five times as members of the WAC
Rice and San Jose State jointly announced on Wednesday the schools will meet in football in the 2030 and 2031 seasons. The schools will play at Rice Stadium on Sept. 14, 2030, and in San Jose on Sept. 20, 2031.
The schools met five times from 1998 to 2004 when both were members of the WAC and the Spartans lead the series 3-2 with the home team winning each game. San Jose won the last meeting, 70-63 in 2004 which set an NCAA record for most combined points in a regulation game until it was broken in 2016 when Pittsburgh defeated Syracuse 76-61.
The current edition of the Owls will conclude their 2022 spring practice schedule with the annual Blue-Gray game at noon on Saturday, April 16. Admission to the game is free and fans can redeem their complimentary tickets online in advance of the game.
Current football season ticket members who renew their seats for the 2022 season will be greeted by prices locked in at 2021 rates. Information about new season ticket sales will be announced soon. Those interested in new season tickets should fill out the season ticket request form.
