In Brief: 14th ranked Texas jumped out to an early lead and then held off a pair of late challenges by Rice to post a 7-0 win over the Owls at the Texas Tennis Center on Friday.
Doubles: The Longhorns race to the doubles point with wins at the first and third line. Trinity Grear and AJ Valenty were locked in a tight match at the second line when the point was clinched.
Singles: Texas took five of six first sets in singles and clinched the match with wins at the first, fourth and fifth lines. Freshman Haoyuan Huang grabbed the lone first set for Rice at the second line while fellow first year player Emir Sendogan tied his match at the third line by taking a tiebreaker. Huang dropped a tiebreaker in his second set and both players dropped supersets to close out the match.
