Men’s Basketball Begins C-USA Play at Middle Tennessee

HOUSTON — Rice begins its Conference USA schedule this Tuesday, Nov. 15, when it travels to Murfreesboro, Tenn., to face Middle Tennessee. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT and will be streamed by ESPN+.

• Rice enters Tuesday's Conference USA opener with a 1-1 record. The Owls are coming off an 85-48 victory over St. Thomas, 85-48, last Thursday.
• Junior guard Travis Evee leads the team and is sixth in the league with 18.5 points per game. He's also second in three-pointers made (9) and third in three-point field goal percentage (.474).
• Junior guard and Preseason All-Conference USA honoree Quincy Olivari is second on the team with 11.5 points per game. He leads the team and is eighth in C-USA with 7.5 rebounds per game. He's also seventh in three-pointers made per game with (2.5).
• Freshman guard Mekhi Mason is third on the team with 8.0 points per game and is pulling down 3.5 boards per game.
• Freshman forward Andrew Akuchie is averaging 7.5 points and 2.5 rebounds per game.
• Junior forward Max Fiedler is averaging 7.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game, which is third in the league. He's also connecting on 53.8% from the field.
• Head coach Scott Pera is in his sixth season leading the Rice men's basketball program.
Scouting Middle Tennessee
• Middle Tennessee enters its Conference USA opener with a 1-1 record. The Blue Raiders fell to Winthrop last Saturday, 76-68.
• Redshirt senior DeAndre Dishman leads the Middle Tennessee in both scoring and rebounds with 11.5 points and 8.5 boards per game, which is tied for fifth in the conference. He's also tied for fifth in blocks per game (1.5), seventh in steals per game (2.0) and ninth in field goal percentage (.625).
• Sophomore guard Jestin Porter is tied for the team lead with 11.5 points per game.
• Junior guard Camryn Weston is third on the team with 11.0 points per game. He's also second on the team in rebounding (6.0) while connecting on 53.3% from the field and 100.0% from the free throw percentage.
• Junior guard Eli Lawrence and junior forward Tyler Millin are both averaging 9.5 points per game.
• Head coach Nick McDevitt is in his fifth season at the helm of the Middle Tennessee men's basketball program where he owns a 51-74 record. In 10 seasons as a head coach, McDevitt is 149-140.
