Four Singles, Two Doubles Advance at Texas Regional

In Brief: Rice advanced four players to the round of 32 in singles and a pair of doubles teams to the round of 16 at the ITA Division I Men's Texas Regional at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco on Friday.

Details: Haoyuan Huang, Trinity Grear, Santiago Navarro and Yasha Zemel all advanced in singles. Huang and Zemel began play in Friday's main draw while Grear and Navarro picked up their second wins of the tournament after earning berths with wins in Thursday's qualifying round. Rice's Kabeer Kapasi, who won twice in qualifying to reach the main draw, extended second seed Noah Schachter of Texas A&M to three sets before falling. Schachter, who was ranked 19^th in the ITA preseason rankings, will face Zemel on the Round of 32 on Saturday. Eduardo Morais and Emir Sendogan picked up a pair of wins in doubles to advance to the round of 16 where they will be joined by Dylan Heap and Zemel who advanced after a first-round bye.
