
Annual Rice Baseball Fan Fest Set for January 29

Rice baseball fans will have their first chance to interact with new head coach Jose Cruz Jr. and the 2022 Owls while one lucky fan could win season tickets for life when Fan Fest returns to Reckling Park on Saturday, January 29.
Gates will open at 11 a.m. for fans for an autograph session with the team prior to the start of batting practice at noon. Fans who RSVP for the event online will be eligible to win lifetime season tickets to Rice Baseball during the Coach Cruz home run contest (Team staff will attempt to hit three home runs prior to the start of batting practice). Parking will be available for fans in West Lot 6.
In addition to the meet and greet with the team, fans can enjoy an inflatable ball toss and chalk zone, photo opportunities with the team, and tour and tour Reckling Park facilities while they get a first look at the 2022 Owls. Official team apparel will be on sale at the team shop while food and beverage from Rudy's BBQ, Karbach Brewing, Kona Ice, and other vendors will be available.
During batting practice, the Owls will be joined on the field by up to 100 youth league players to play catch and shag balls in the outfield.
An exclusive season ticket member event will begin at 10:15 a.m. at Reckling Park and feature a preseason Q&A outlook on the upcoming season with the coaching staff on top of the home dugout. Further details will be shared directly with season ticket members by e-mail. Fans can become season ticket members by purchasing 2022 season tickets prior to Fan Fest.

The Owls open full-squad practices on January 28 in advance of opening the season on the road against the Texas Longhorns on February 18.
Cruz and the 2022 Owls will open their 34-game home schedule on Friday, February 25 with the first of three games against the Lamar Cardinals. Opening Night will feature an exclusive "Cruz Era" shirt giveaway for the first 500 fans, a baseball bingo contest, the Coca-Cola Houston Rodeo Tour Exhibit, and post game fireworks!
The 2022 non-conference schedule also includes a weekend series with 2021 Super Regional participant Texas Tech and a four-game set with Harvard in addition to weeknight games with regional rivals Baylor, Texas A&M, and Houston.
