Women's Cross Country Picked 3rd in C-USA

DALLAS - Rice women's cross country has been picked to to finish third in the Conference USA Cross Country Preseason Coaches Poll, which was announced Tuesday (8/30) afternoon.
The Owls, who finished fourth at last year's C-USA Championship, are slotted behind the defending conference champion Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders (12 first place votes) and the runner-up Charlotte 49ers (1 first place vote). Rice has finished in the top four in the conference in each of the last six seasons.
The Owls return sophomore All-American Grace Forbes, who placed 19th at the NCAA Championships and won the individual title at the C-USA Championships in the fall. The Owls also welcome back Taigen Hunter-Galvan, who earned Third Team All-Conference accolades with a 21st place performance at last year's C-USA Championships.
Rice opens the 2021 season on Sept. 10 when they host the annual Rice Invitational from the Intramural Fields. The women's race is scheduled to start at approximately 6:15 p.m.
