No. 15 Rice Begins Five Match Homestand against Northwestern State

HOUSTON — The 15th-ranked Rice Soccer team will play the first of five straight home matches this Sunday, Aug. 29, when it hosts Northwestern State. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. and will be streamed by CUSAtv.

Scouting Rice
• Head Coach Brian Lee is in his third season at the helm of the Rice soccer program. He holds a 27-9-4 record and is 314-197-59 in 24 years as a head coach.

• Junior midfielder Delaney Schultz leads the squad with two goals, three assists, seven points, nine shots and four shots on goal.
• Goalkeeper Bella Killgore has allowed just one goal in three games, recording a 0.33 goals against average and a 92.3% save percentage.
• Rice returns its top eight goal scorers from last year, led by second year freshman Mikala Furuto who tallied six goals as well as Schultz and junior Madison Kent, who added five apiece.

• 2020 Southland Conference Goalkeeper of the Year Acelya Aydogmus returns after allowing just six goals in 14 matches last season.
Rice-Northwestern State Series History
• This will be just the third meeting overall between Rice and Northwestern State and the first since 2004.
• Rice won the first two meetings.
• Rice won the only other meeting in Houston, a 5-0 victory in 2003.
• The Owls have outscored NSU in the series, 6-1.

• When the Owls face Northwestern State, it will be the 39th meeting against the Southland Conference.
