Tat, Shreeve to join Owls; Wilson to remain
HOUSTON – Rice women's basketball first year head coach Lindsay Edmonds has completed her support staff by announcing on Tuesday (7/27) the addition of Solomon Tat as sports performance coach and Michael Shreeve as video coordinator. In addition, Brook Wilson will remain on staff and maintain her role as Assistant AD of Basketball Operations.
Tat comes to Rice after serving as the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Liberty for the men's basketball and men's soccer teams since 2014. Tat joined the staff at Liberty in 2012 initially as a graduate assistant for the men's basketball team.
"I feel extremely fortunate to have Solomon here," Edmonds said. "His knowledge and expertise, along with his love for training, is unparalleled. I know our young ladies will really thrive under his coaching and energy. I honestly feel like we have one of the best in the business in Coach Solo."
Prior to his arrival at Liberty, Tat was a two-time captain for the Virginia Cavaliers men's basketball team where he competed in 65 games over four years of competition. Tat received his Bachelor of Arts degree in foreign affairs from Virginia in 2012. Tat later completed his Master of Arts and Human Services degree with a concentration in business from Liberty in 2014.
In 2010, Tat founded The Process basketball Foundation in Nigeria which helped develop basketball camps for under-privileged children. He worked directly with the Nigeria Basketball Federation to help build youth programs while assisting the Nigeria National Team.
While a graduate assistant with the men's basketball squad, Tat assisted in postgame team breakdown clips, individual game improvement clips and player breakdowns.
Shreeve comes to Houston after spending the past four seasons in Provo, Utah at BYU. Most recently, Shreeve served as the Interim Director of Basketball Operations under head coach Jeff Judkins. In addition to coordinating all aspects of practice, game scheduling, and travel, Shreeve was also the video coordinator and assisted the coaching staff in preparing scouting reports.
"I love that Michael is coming to us from a very good BYU program so he knows what success looks like," Edmonds said. "He's had experiences in several different areas of the game and I know he will work extremely hard for Rice Women's Basketball."
Prior to that, Shreeve was a graduate assistant in 2019-20 for the Cougars and helped assist as a practice player for four season while attending BYU from 2014-18.
Shreeve received his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from BYU in 2018 and later completed his Master of Science degree with a concentration in mass communications in 2021.
Wilson will be entering her sixth season for the Owls and her third as Assistant AD of basketball operations. Wilson has played a vital role in the Owls success and has been a part of the greatest era in program history.
"I feel incredibly blessed to be able to retain Brook on my staff," Edmonds said. "She loves this team, has the most positive attitude, and is an absolute rockstar at what she does. Brook has made the transition to Rice University so easy for myself and the rest of the staff because of her knowledge of the university."
