Schuman One of 14 on C-USA Academic Watch List

3.76 GPA while majoring in Economics and Managerial Studies
Rice defensive end Trey Schuman is one of 14 C-USA football student-athletes recognized for their academic prowess with the release of the conference's first preseason academic watch list on Friday.
A three-year starter for the Owls who has compiled a 3.76 GPA while majoring in Economics and Managerial Studies, Schuman was recently named to CoSIDA's Academic All-District® football team. He is a two-time winner of the James Glanville Award for his combination of academic and athletic achievement and is a four-time recipient of the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal for maintaining a GPA of at least 3.75.
On the field, he the team with 4.5 tackles for loss during the abbreviated 2020 season.
The 2021 Conference USA slate opens on Saturday, Aug. 28, and the Owls open play the following weekend on the road at Arkansas. The league's 17th Conference USA Football Championship Game is scheduled for the first week in December.
