Nwadei Earns Two Victories at Tom Tellez Invitational

HOUSTON - The Rice Owls women's track & field team sent a small contingent of athletes to the annual Tom Tellez Invitational, hosted by the University of Houston on Friday. The meet was the Owls final tune-up prior to next weekend's Conference USA Championships in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
KC Nwadei was the highlight for the Owls, capturing a pair of victories in jump competitions. Nwadei cleared 1.70m to win the high jump and followed that up with a leap of 11.64m in the triple jump. The victories were her third and fourth of the outdoor season.
Ali Goodson continued her growth in the pole vault by placing second overall, first collegiately, with a personal best clearance of 3.81m. Also establishing personal bests included Natalie Goddard in the 1500m (4th-4:47.19) and Alyssa Balandran in the 800m (3rd-2:14.69). Thrower Julie Perez picked up her eighth top-three finish of the season in the discus, throwing 51.56m to place second overall.
