
Men's Tennis Hosts Pair this Weekend

In Brief: The Rice men's tennis team (8-9) will host SMU and Prairie View A&M in a pair of combined matches with the Rice women's team this weekend. The Owls will host the Mustangs on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the second annual Turpin Cup match and the Panthers on Sunday at 11 a.m.
Fans in the Stands: Home matches at the GRBTC are once again open to the public with the following guidelines.

SMU: The Mustangs are 13-13 on the season and have dropped their last four matches—all against top 35 teams. This will be the 46th meeting between the schools with SMU leading the series 23-22. They have met at least once each season since 2011
Turpin Cup: Created in 2020, the Turpin Cup honors the memory of Jack Turpin. Turpin earned All-America honors and won a Southwest Conference doubles title in 1950 for Rice. His oldest son, Scott, followed his father to play tennis at Rice where he served as a co-captain as a senior while his younger two sons, Mark and Jeff, earned All-American honors playing for SMU.
Prairie View: The Panthers are 4-12 this season and have won their last two matches. This is the 13th consecutive meeting between the schools and Rice leads the series 14-0.
