HOUSTON — The Rice golf team makes its first trip outside the state of Texas when it travels to Lafayette, La., for the 36th annual Louisiana Classics. The tournament is hosted by Louisiana Classics and will be played at the par-71, 6,866-yard Oakbourne Club.
JUSTIN EMIL QUOTABLE
"It's crazy that it's been one year since the shutdown and we are about to head to Louisiana for the Classics a year after it was cancelled. We made a little progress in Dallas earlier in the week, so we're looking forward to continuing that process this week in Lafayette."
TEAM FIELD
Rice will be joined in the field by five teams in Golfstat's current Top 100 rankings led by No. 5 Illinois, No. 38 North Texas, No. 49 Sam Houston State, No. 63 UMKC and No. 88 Texas State. Illinois State, Louisiana-Lafayette McNeese State, Michigan, Oral Roberts, Southern Illinois and UTEP are also in the tournament.
