Doubleheader opens extended homestand
In Brief: After weathering a week of winter weather that caused the postponement of a pair of matches, the Rice men's tennis team opens a slate of 12 consecutive home dual matches by hosting a doubleheader on Saturday. The Owls will host UTRGV at 10 a.m. at the George R. Brown Tennis Center and return to thed courts at 3 p.m. to host Louisiana.
Fans in the Stands: Saturday's doubleheader will mark the first time the Rice men will play in front of fans at GRBTC in 2021. Fans attendance was approved recently with the following guidelines.

UTRGV: The Vaqueros are 3-6 in 2021 and are coming off 1-2 effort at the H-E-B Tournament of Champions in Corpus Christi last weekend. The downed UTSA 7-0 and fell to Troy (6-1) and Texas A&M Corpus Christi. Rice holds a 10-1 advantage in the series, including a 4-1 win in the most recent meeting in 2019.
Louisiana: The Ragin Cajuns are returning to the courts for the first time since January 31 as their last four matches were cancelled. They have posted a 1-5 mark so far this year, with losses coming against Texas, Middle Tennessee, LSU, Mississippi State and Texas A&M Corpus Christi. Rice leads series having won 11 of 14 matches since 2001, but Louisiana has won two of the last three. The Owls have won four of six at GRBTC.
