Men’s Basketball Takes to the Road to Face East Division Leader WKU

HOUSTON — Rice heads back on the road when it travels to Bowling Green, Ky., Feb. 12 & 13, to face East Division leader WKU. Friday's game is scheduled to tip-off at 7 p.m. and will be livestreamed by ESPN+ while Saturday's game is scheduled for 5 p.m. and will be nationally televised by CBS Sports Network.
Scouting Rice
• Rice enters this weekend's games with a 12-8 record and 6-6 in Conference USA after sweeping Southern Miss last weekend.
• Sophomore Quincy Olivari leads the Owls with 15.9 points per game, which is eighth in Conference USA. He leads the league in three-point field goal percentage (45.6%), is second in three-point field goals made per game (3.1) and is ninth in free throw percentage (80.6%). He is also second on the team with 5.1 rebounds per game.
• Sophomore guard Travis Evee is second on the team with 15.1 points per game and leads the team in steals (1.2 spg). He also leads C-USA in three-point field goals made per game (3.2) and is second in three-point field goal percentage (42.6%).
• Sophomore forward Max Fiedler is averaging nearly a double-double, scoring 11.6 points per game while pulling down 9.2 rebounds per game, good for second in the conference. He leads C-USA and is third the country (as of Feb. 9) in field goal percentage (69.2%) while placing sixth in the league in assists per game (4.1) and tied for seventh in assist/turnover ratio (1.7).
• Junior guard Chris Mullins is scoring 11.5 points per game while redshirt sophomore forward Riley Abercrombie is adding 8.3 points per game and is third on the team with 4.2 rebounds per game.
• Rice is averaging 77.2 points per game while allowing 72.3.
• The Owls are connecting on 45.4% from the floor and 37.1% from three while holding their opponents to 44.0% from the field and 33.4% from three.
• Rice is also outrebounding its opponents, 38.0-to-34.2 while leading the league with 16.4 assists per game.
• Head coach Scott Pera begins his fourth season leading the Rice men's basketball program. He holds a record of 47-68.

• WKU enters this weekend with a 13-4 record and 6-2 in Conference USA. The Hilltoppers are looking to get back on the court after having their last two series postponed due to COVID.
• Junior center Charles Bassey leads WKU and Conference USA with 17.8 points per game. He is second in the nation (as of Feb. 9) in blocks per game (3.4) and third in rebounds per game (12.2) and double-doubles (11).
• Senior guard Tavieon Hollingsworth is second on the team with 13.6 points per game while placing fifth in the league in free throw percentage, connecting on 83.1%.
• Senior guard Josh Anderson is averaging 10.4 points per game. He is second in the conference in free throw percentage (89.1%) and fifth in steals per game (1.9).
• WKU is averaging 74.1 points per game while allowing just 69.5 points.
• The Hilltoppers are connecting on 45.1% from the field and 33.1% from three while allowing 42.9% from the floor and 36.3% from beyond the arc.
