Dual season opens next Saturday vs. McNeese State
In Brief: The Rice women's tennis team opens their 2021 spring campaign on Sunday when they open play in the TCU Invite at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
About the TCU Invite: Rice will join Central Arkansas, Houston, Texas A&M and North Texas in addition to the hosts in the first competition of the new year. The event will crown three champions in both singles and doubles, however there is no team scoring will be compiled. While the Owls will not open play until Sunday, play began on Saturday and will run through Tuesday.
Elizabeth Schmidt: "What's great is we are heading towards the dual match season, but we have one more individual tournament this weekend. We talked as a team that we would use this time (with limited competitions due to the pandemic) to learn to be resilient and to go with the flow and not worry about the things you can't control. There's a lot of things we can't control, but we've focused a lot on the mental aspect of the game. And we've played a lot of points. That was the one thing we didn't get a lot of in the fall and we've continued in practice. It will be good to get out there this weekend and knock some of the rust off against someone other than ourselves. We've been playing against the same people a lot since we came back to school in the fall."
Live Scoring: Live scoring for all matches is available: https://riceowls.co/TCU-invite-21
Live Video: Live video will be available for outdoor matches only https://riceowls.co/TCU-Invite-Video
