Conference announces fall honorees

Sophomore offensive lineman Connor Hughes is one of 14 Conference USA student-athletes to be recognized with the league's Fall Spirit of Service Award, C-USA Commissioner Judy MacLeod announced on Wednesday.
The C-USA Spirit of Service Award recognizes the community service efforts of the league's student-athletes, based upon significant public service, good academic standing and participation in their elected sport. The award is presented three times throughout the season, recognizing competitors in the fall, winter and spring athletic seasons.
Hughes volunteers with the Houston Food Bank throughout the year, including weekly engagement throughout August and September which led to an internship as a Community Outreach Specialist where he assists with combating food insecurities further exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
He is Chair of the Education Subcommittee of the Owl In Task Force and has been serving as President of Cru, a Christian ministry organization on campus, since June 2020
