Owls back in action vs. Louisiana on Sunday
Rice freshman Federica Trevisan has been named Conference USA's first Female Tennis Athlete of the Week for the 2021 dual season. All C-USA weekly awards are presented by Surf & Turf Golf.
Trevisan closed out her first action of the new semester by defeating Texas A&M's Tatiana Markarova, who is ranked 64th the Oracle/ITA preseason rankings 6-4, 7-6 and followed that with a win in her first collegiate dual, 6-2, 6-0 over Maria Ballo of McNeese St. She also combined with Michaela Haet to win both of their doubles matches in dual competition.
It is her first honor from C-USA and the second for the Owls this season. Linda Huang was named the Women's Tennis Athlete of the Month in October. Trevisan is the first Owl to capture the weekly honor since Anna Bowtell was recognized during the 2020 dual season.
The Owls will be back in action on Sunday at 11 a.m. when they host Louisiana as part of a combined dual with the Rice men's team, who will face Lamar.
