
Owls Face McNeese State in Dual Opener

In Brief: The Rice women's tennis team opens their dual season by hosting McNeese State at the George R. Brown Tennis Center at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Good to be Back: This will mark the Owls' first dual action since they dropped a 4-3 decision to Kansas on March 7 of last season.]
Last Weekend : The Owls opened the 2021 campaign at the TCU Invite last Sunday through Tuesday. Maria Budin and Diae El Jardi were honored as one of three doubles champions after posting 2-1 record. Freshman Federica Trevisan closed out the competition impressive fashion, posting a 6-4, 7-6 win over Texas A&M's Tatiana Makarova who was ranked 64th in the preseason ITA singles rankings which were announced later in the week.
Fans in the stands: Saturday's match will not be open to the public in accordance with Rice University's COVID-19 protocols.
Vs. McNeese: This will be third meeting between the two schools, with the Owls having one the first two. Rice took 7-0 decisions in both 2014 (at Jake Hess Tennis Center) and 2018 at the George R. Brown Tennis Center.
