
Adekunle Named to U.S. Women’s Collegiate National Team

Will train June 21-27 in Anaheim
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Rice sophomore middle blocker Anota Adekunle was named one of 28 players to earn a spot on the U.S. Women's Collegiate National Team-Anaheim roster comprised of current collegiate players.
Adekunle is one of eight middles selected to the elite CNT-Anaheim squad, along with Melody Davidson (Butler), Phoebe Grace (Utah), Jael Johnson (Purdue), Karrington Jones (Texas Tech), Lauren Matthews (WKU), Tristin Savage (UCLA) and Mallory Talbert (Texas A&M).
Adekunle, who garnered AVCA All-American Honorable Mention honors, ranked sixth in the NCAA in hitting percentage (.425), a new Rice single-season record. A C-USA First Team honoree, Adekunle ranked second during league play with a .462 hitting percentage, was sixth in kills per set (3.60) and sixth in blocks per set (1.11).
The CNT Anaheim will train June 21-27 in Anaheim at the American Sports Centers where they will compete side-by-side with the U.S. Women's National Team as it makes final preparations for the Tokyo Olympic Games.
In total, 56 CNT athletes were selected through the U.S. Women's National Team Open Tryouts held Feb. 21-23 at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
