Fourth Owl to earn multiple C-USA football academic honors
Rice senior linebacker Blaze Alldredge is one of 11 student-athletes named to the 2020 C-USA Football All-Academic Team as selected by the conference's Academic Advisors.
Alldredge, who carries a 3.396 GPA in Political Science, is one of two players to earn repeat honors and he is the first Owl since Tanner Leland in 2012 & 2013 to be honored in consecutive years. Andrew Sendejo was named to three C-USA All-Academic teams (2007-09) and Travis Bradshaw was selected in 2009 & 2010.
He led the Owls and was third in C-USA with 9.4 tackles per game and was credited with at least 10 tackles in three of five games in 2020. Named the C-USA Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Owls to a 20-0 shutout at No. 15 Marshall, Alldredge led the team with 10 stops including a shared tackle for loss, picked off one pass and broke up a second.
