
Rice Volleyball Announces Addition of LaBue

Junior transfer from Butler
HOUSTON – Elizabeth LaBue, a 5'7" defensive specialist, has transferred to play volleyball at Rice University, head coach Genny Volpe announced on Friday. A native of Wheaton, Ill., LaBue played her freshman and sophomore seasons at Butler University.
In 48 career matches with the Bulldogs, LaBue totaled 775 digs over 179 sets (4.33 per set) with 41 service aces.
"We are excited to add Elizabeth to the team this spring as she will definitely add experience and quality defense and serve receive skills to our team right away. We're very happy to add her this semester so she can work into our system immediately and compete with us in spring competition. She is a great student, very talented, and a hard-working player that will fit in extremely well with our team culture."
As a sophomore, LaBue played in all 115 sets and ranked third in the Big East and 54th in the NCAA with 541 digs. LaBue ranked third on the team with 77 assists and added 27 service aces. In 2018, LaBue led the Bulldogs with 376 digs as a freshman.
A graduate of Wheaton North High School, LaBue concluded her high school career as a three-time honorable mention all-conference selection.
