Rice Battles TCU To 1-1 Draw Tuesday Night

Owls Host Second/Final Exhibition Saturday At 7 PM
Rice was paced by senior midfielder Erin Mikeska, who led the team with three shots, including a goal in just the second minute of the contest (1:17 off the clock). The visiting Horned Frogs, a team won a first round game in the NCAA Tournament last season, found the equalizer just 36 second later (1:53). A total of 20 Owl players saw action in the exhibition under new head coach Brian Lee.
The Blue & Gray finished the exhibition with a total of 13 shots overall, including six on-goal. Owl senior goalkeeper Maya Hoyer recorded a pair of saves in a scoreless second half.
Rice plays a second/final exhibition match at home on Saturday (Aug. 17) against longtime foe Lamar. Start time is scheduled for 7 pm at Holloway Field on the Rice campus. The Owls officially open the season on August 22 on the road at Oral Roberts.
