Fokam to Compete at NCAA Indoor Championships

Long jump on Friday, triple jump Saturday
HOUSTON - Rice junior jumper Michelle Fokam will become the first Owl to compete in two events at the NCAA Indoor Championships this weekend since Lennie Waite (2009) when she partakes in the long jump and triple jump at the CrossPlex facility in Birmingham, Ala.
Fokam, from Katy, Texas, will be competing in her first career NCAA Indoor Championships, starting with the long jump on Friday, March 8 at 7:10 p.m. CT. Fokam is seeded sixth (6.39m) in the event from her mark earlier this season at the Leonard Hilton Memorial Invitational. She'll then be back in action the next day at 3:30 p.m. competing in the triple jump, where she's seeded 11th (13.31m).
Two weeks ago, Fokam won gold in the long jump and silver in the triple jump at the C-USA Indoor Championships, earning the C-USA Female Field Performer of the Meet.
ESPN3 will stream the championship live starting at 5:30 p.m. CT on Friday and starting at 4 p.m. CT on Saturday, March 9. A re-air of the championship will take place starting at 9 p.m. CT on Sunday, March 10 on ESPN2 and again Monday, March 11 starting at 9 p.m. on ESPNU.
