
Selection Show Set for Monday

Doors open at Brian Patterson Center at 5:30 p.m.
Tina Langley's Rice Owls, who captured both Conference USA regular and tournament championships, will learn the next stop on their record-setting run on Monday when the 64-team field for the 2019 NCAA Women's Basketball Championship is revealed live on ESPN beginning at 6 p.m.
Rice will host a NCAA Selection Show watch party in the team meeting room of the Brian Patterson Sports Performance Center in order for Owl Club donors, Assist Club members, Women's Basketball season ticket members and Rice students to join the team for the historic moment. Doors to the Patterson Center will open at 5:30 prior to show beginning at 6 p.m. Attendees are advised to park in West Lot 3.
The 24th ranked Owls earned C-USA's automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament by defeating Middle Tennessee on Saturday to add the program's first C-USA conference tournament title to the regular season crown they captured with 16-0 record. The win on Saturday was their 21st consecutive which is the third-longest active streak in the NCAA and 28th of the season to set another program record.
This will be the Owls third trip to the NCAA Championship and the first since 2005. The Owls earned their initial trip in 2000 after capturing the WAC tournament title and they returned in 2005 after sweeping the WAC titles.
