Mulkey Sets Single-Game Blocks Record in Loss at SMU
11/13/2019 10:34:00 PM | Women's Basketball
DALLAS – Rice junior center Nancy Mulkey broke her own single-game record for blocked shots and in the process notched just the second triple double (15 points, 11 rebounds, 11 blocks) in program history in the Owls' 55-43 road loss at SMU on Wednesday.
Mulkey joined Valeriya Berezhynska (2008; 14 points/12 rebounds/10 assist) as the only Owls to ever record a triple-double. While setting a Moody Coliseum record for blocks, Mulkey also recorded the third-most blocks ever by a Conference USA player.
In addition to Mulkey's stellar performance, Rice received a team-high 17 points from senior guard Erica Ogwumike to go along with eight rebounds.
The Owls (2-1) dropped a road game for the first time in over a year, having last lost on Nov. 11 at No. 23 UCLA.
Brishonne Tollie led SMU (2-0) in scoring with a game-high 19 points, 15 of which came in the second half.
