Owls Next Host Marshall On Oct. 18 (Friday)
RUSTON, La. – The Rice and Louisiana Tech soccer teams battled for 90 minutes of regulation plus two 10-minute overtime periods before finishing in a 2-2 tie Sunday afternoon in Ruston, La.
Standings Watch
The Owls remained unbeaten in C-USA league play (3-0-2) and picked up another point in the conference standings. The Blue & Gray now has 11 points in C-USA matches to hold sole possession of fifth place, four points back of first place Charlotte (5-1-0, 15 points). Rice is now 6-4-2 overall. LA Tech moved to 11-2-2 on the season and 3-2-1 in conference.
Rice Goals
Senior forward Louise Stephens scored her team-leading fifth goal in the game's 67th minute. Sophomore midfielder Delaney Schultz added the Owls' second goal in the 70th minute. The score was Schultz' third goal of the season.
Season-High 19 Shots
For the match Rice held a 19-10 advantage in shots, the team's highest single-game total of the season. The Owls were led by senior Haley Kostyshyn's five shots, matching the squad's highest individual total this year. Kostyshyn also took five shots in the season-opener at Oral Roberts and Schultz registered five shot attempts against Oregon State.

Rice is now 0-1-2 in overtime this season and a step closer to the four OTs the team played in 2018. Sunday's road result was not a loss, but the Owls are still searching for their first win in overtime period since 2016 (at Florida Atlantic). The Blue & Gray has not recorded a win in specifically the second overtime period since 2015 (at home vs. San Jose State). Rice has not beaten a conference opponent in double-overtime since slipping past SMU in the 2011 C-USA Tournament.

- Oct. 18 - Come out to Holloway Field for the inaugural Soc'toberfest event which will include free craft beer samples for all fans 21+ and free Rice socks to the first 100 fans! It is also Rice Faculty/Staff Appreciation Night as all Rice faculty and staff can redeem four complimentary tickets to the match by visiting the ticket office Monday-Friday between 8:30 am - 5 pm.
- Oct. 20 - Attend the annual Pink Game and bid on the shirts your Owls wear pregame! All proceeds will go to the Houston Methodist Center for Cancer Research. Additionally, the Houston Dash will be coming out with a few players to sign free autographs from 12-1 pm, so come early and meet the Dash! After the match, the Owls will be sticking around to sign autographs as well.
- Nov. 1 - Don't miss your last chance to see your Owls seniors at Senior Night! To help keep you cooled off, Berry's Ices Food Truck will be at Holloway with some tasty treats as well.
