Volleyball to Face Texas State in NCAA Tournament

Owls head to NCAA Championships for first time since 2009
HOUSTON – For the first time since 2009 and just the fourth time in program history, the Rice volleyball team is heading to the NCAA Tournament. The Owls (24-6) will travel to Austin to take on Texas State (26-6) in the first round on Thursday, Nov. 29 at 4 p.m. inside Gregory Gymnasium.
No. 5 seed Texas will serve as the host and will face Stephen F. Austin on Thursday at 7 p.m. The winners of each will play on Friday, Nov. 30 at 8 p.m. The winner of the Austin sub-regional will then advance to the regional semifinal on Friday, Dec. 7. The NCAA Final Four will take place in Minneapolis, Minn.
Rice faced Texas State earlier this season, dropping their lone home match in five sets back on Sept. 4 at Tudor Fieldhouse.
The Owls made the NCAA Tournament on three other occasions, playing at the University of Texas all three times.
This season, the Owls won the C-USA regular season and the C-USA Championships, earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
First and second round all-session and single-day tickets are available now and may be purchased at texassports.com/tickets or by calling 512-471-3333. Tickets are also available in person at the Sandeep Soni Ticket Office in Bellmont Hall (Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.). Tickets are based on availability.
