Cunningham Named to Google Cloud Academic All-District Team

HOUSTON – Rice junior libero Lee Ann Cunningham was named to the Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 Second Team, the organization announced on Thursday.
The Louisville, Ky. native is a triple major in Political Sciences/Spanish & Portuguese/Policy Studies while maintaining a 3.79 GPA. Cunningham has twice been named to the C-USA Academic Honor Roll and last season earned a spot on the C-USA All-Academic Team.
Cunningham was selected to the C-USA First Team for the first time in her career on Wednesday. A four-time recipient of the C-USA Defensive Player of the Week this season, Cunningham leads the Owls in total digs (502-4th in C-USA) and digs per set (4.83-4th in C-USA). She has 20 or more digs in 10 matches this season and helped anchor a Rice defense that leads all of C-USA and ranks 17th in the nation in opponents hitting percentage (.159). During league play, the junior libero ranked third in both total digs and digs per set.
Cunningham and the Owls open the quarterfinals of the C-USA Championship on Friday against Charlotte at 11 a.m. (CT).
