IRVING, Texas - Rice volleyball outside hitter Nicole Lennon was named the Conference USA Freshman of the Week following a stellar opening weekend, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
The Katy, Texas native played a big role in helping the Owls win the SMU Doubletree Invitational, earning tournament MVP honors and a spot on the all-tournament team while Rice defeated SMU (RV) and Mississippi State.
Over four matches (15 sets) last weekend, Lennon racked up a C-USA weekend-best 61 kills on 213 attacks while also collecting 40 digs. Lennon recorded double-doubles against both SMU (18 kills/13 digs) and Mississippi State (20 kills/10 digs).
The Owls will next travel to Boulder, Colorado to partake in the Omni Invitational where they will face Wake Forest, Abilene Christian and host Colorado.
