Rice Athletics and the wives of the Rice Football coaching staff are joining forces to help the Houston Region 4 Educational Service Center in a drive to collect books and gift cards to be used to resupply their schools impacted by Hurricane Harvey.
Fans are asked to donate new or lightly used novels suitable for students K-12 as well as gift cards from either Target or Walmart. Collection bins are currently available in the lobby of Tudor Fieldhouse and fans attending this weekend's Rice Volleyball action are encouraged to make contributions.
The collection points at Tudor will remain open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the week through October 27 and then move to Gate Three at Rice Stadium in advance of the Owls game with Louisiana Tech.
The wives of the Owls coaching staff have committed to collecting items for various aspects of Houston's recovery from the impacts of Hurricane Harvey at each of Rice's home football games this season.
