
Tribe Storms Back Against Owls

The Rice women's tennis team jumped out to an early advantage, but 37th ranked William and Mary bounced back to down the 54th ranked Owls 5-2 at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center in New Haven, Connecticut on Saturday.
Rice stormed out to the early lead by grabbing the doubles point, winning 12 of 13 games on courts two and three to take a 1-0 lead. Savannah Durkin and Solomiya Zinko struck first with a 6-1 win on three and Katherine Ip and Emily Smith followed shortly after with a 6-0 win on two, giving Rice a 1-0 lead.
Durkin carried her momentum over into singles, picking up a 6-0, 6-3 win on court four, but The Tribe stormed back to win on the remaining courts to improve to 13-4 on the year.
Rice will close out its weekend trip on Sunday when they face host Yale in a dual with first serves set for 9 a.m. Live video and scoring is available
