Singles Sweep Sparks First Day at LSU Fall Tiger Classic

Lindsey Hodge stormed back from a first set loss to win in three sets and complete a sweep of singles matches for Rice in the opening day of action in the LSU Fall Tiger Classic on Friday.
The Owls finished with a 6-0 mark in singles vs. Tulane while splitting a pair of doubles matches against the host Tigers at the LSU Tennis Complex in Baton Rouge.
Hodge shook off a 6-1 loss in the first set to Tulane's Kylar Klier, to win 1-6, 6-2, 6-1. She joined with Wendy Zhang, Alison Ho, Fernanda Astete, Savannah Durkin and Priya Niezgoda who won in straight sets.
In doubles, Niezgoda and Ho downs LSU's Skylar Holloway and Jessica Golovin, 6-4.
Play resumes on Saturday at 9 a.m. when the Owls take on Princeton and then Tulane in doubles. Singles play resumes 60 minutes after the conclusion of the two doubles matches with the Owls set to face Princeton.
Play concludes at 9 a.m. on Sunday with LSU and Rice facing off in singles.
