Ip Drops Oracle Masters Opener

Rice senior Katherine Ip dropped three-set match in her opening singles match of the second annual Oracle ITA Masters in Malibu, California on Thursday.
Ip took the opening set, but fell to Kana Daniel of Penn, 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 on Thursday morning. She will face Boston's Sabrina Faybyshev in the consolation bracket on Friday. Ip and Old Dominion's Adam Moundir fell in their mix doubles opener, dropping a 6-2 decision to Julia O'Loughlin and Diogo Rocha of Denver. There is no consolation round for the mixed doubles.
